The Punjabi ghagra was envogue in West Punjab and East Punjab on a wide scale during the 1960s. حاز زيّ الكهاكرا البنجابي على حظوةٍ كبيرة في غرب البنجاب و شرق البنجاب (الهند) خلال 1960 على نطاقٍ واسع.
West Punjab was formed out of the Muslim majority districts of the former British Indian Punjab Province while East Punjab was formed out of the Hindu and Sikh majority districts of the former province. تشكلت غرب البنجاب من الأغلبية المسلمة في المنطقه الهنديه البريطانيه مقاطعة البنجاب في حين أن شرق البنجاب تشكلت من الهندوس و السيخ في مناطق المحافظة السابقه.
During the Partition, one of British India's greatest provinces, the Punjab Province, was split along communal lines into West Punjab and East Punjab (later split into the three separate modern-day Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh). خلال التقسيم واحده من أكبر المقاطعات الهنديه البريطانية " مقاطعة البنجاب " انقسمت لأسس طائفية لغرب البنجاب و شرق البنجاب (لاحقا انقسمت إلى ثلاثة أجزاء منفصلة في العصر الحديث وهم ولاية بنجاب الهندية ، هاريانا وهيماشال براديش).
